Sizzix & Stampin' Up!

Today Shelli announced that Stampin' Up! is teaming up with Sizzix.  Beginning September 2nd, Stampin' Up! will be selling the Big Shot die-cut machine along with exclusive die-cuts made just for Stampin' Up!  Isn't that great?!!  Here are a few pictures of projects made with the Sizzix.



We will be carrying the Serifs Essentials font shown in this wall hanging and this scrapbook page.



Can you see it in this photo?  The word "love" is right above the largest photo.  It was cut out of clear transparencies or some other type of clear plastic.  That's one of the exciting thing about the Sizzix--it can cut through over 50 different materials.

This is the Tulipe Bigz Die and is part of Shelli's Signature Collection.

Here it is again featured on a pillow.  I'm not sure what the white material is, but it *might* be vinyl.  Shelli also announced that we will be selling 12" x 24" sheets of raw vinyl that we can use in the Sizzix.  I can't wait to use it.

My favorite new die is the Baskets and Blooms die.  You know how I feel about 3D projects--I love them!  I will definitely be purchasing this one.

Here is the basket die used on a card.  Isn't that cute?  The card on the right shows the Top Note Bigz die.  This will coordinate beautifully with our new Curly Label punch. 

The cello bag on the left also uses the Top Note Bigz die folded in half for the bag topper.  Shelli said that if you folded it in half the other way, you could use it on one of our larger cello bags.  Stampin' Up! always does an amazing job of making sure our products work well together.

The pillow box on the right is, you guessed it, another die!

This scrapbook page shows some of the flowers that are part of the Baskets and Blooms die.

Convention Make and Takes Part 2

It was another fantastic day at convention.  It has been about three years since I attended my last convention and I don't want to miss another one.  It's too much fun!  I thought I would finish my post from yesterday and show you the four final make and take projects that I made today.



Isn't this scrapbook page adorable?  The word "you" is from the new On Board Loads of Letters chipboard.  This set of chipboard gives you multiples of each letter in three different fonts so you'll be able to use it for many different projects. 

I used the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set on this page.  It's one of the three free stamp sets that we received here at convention.  The stem of the flower is one of the sentiments in the stamp set that says "one person can make such a difference and that person is you!"  I think that's so sweet.

There are also three other new accessories on this scrapbook page.  A felt Flower Fusion in Baja Breeze, the new Rose Red 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, and a Baja Breeze button from our new Designer Button Bouquet.

This card also uses the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set and On Board Loads of Letters chipboard.  It's difficult to see in the photo, but the bottom of the card is scalloped with the Scalloped Edge punch.  Do you see the other two new accessories?  The Very Vanilla brad from the Styled Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware and the 1" Double-stitched Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon.

The Chocolate Chip ribbon is threaded through a punched hole in the card.  To make the hole in the card, I took the 1/8" punch on the Crop-a-dial and punched several holes in a row right next to each other (through the front and back layer of the card) until it was wide enough to fit the ribbon through.  I threaded the ribbon through and tied it in a knot.

Isn't this stamp set gorgeous?  It's another one of the stamp sets we got free and it's called Inspired by Nature.  The vanilla piece on the left is the stamped envelope.  The card on the right shows three of our new accessories--the large oval punch, a small paper clip from the Clips Assortment (the ribbon is tied around it), and the 1/4" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain.  I know, the Chocolate Chip grosgrain isn't completely new.  I'm so glad Stampin' Up! decided to bring it back.

This gift bag is my favorite project of the day.  It shows two more of our new accessories--Tangerine Tango Patterns designer series paper and the 7/8" So Saffron Poly-twill ribbon.  This ribbon is definitely going on my first order.  It's gorgeous!

 

Here's a closer look at the bag tag.  It's one of our 3 x 3 white love notes.  I punched a hole in the upper left corner using the crop-a-dial and then cut a slit from the folded edge of the love note to the hole so I could slip it around the bag handle.

Aren't those make and take projects great?  After I get home from convention I will be making these same projects with my downline as well as for my customers in a class.  I'll post the date of that upcoming class after I get home so be sure to look for it.  I'd love to have you join us.

May Stamp Class

I worked late last night finishing up my samples for my May stamp class.   I wanted to incorporate scrapbooking in honor of national scrapbook month.  I also wanted to use chipboard because it's on sale starting May 1st (spend $35 on Stampin' Up! products and get 25 percent off any On Board items from the Spring-Summer Collection).   So I made these chipboard, scrapbook wall hangings.



This idea was originally shared at Stampin' Up!'s leadership training in January.  It was so cute that I had to give it a try.  Each of these wall hangings measures 7 1/2" wide and 20 1/2" tall (measuring from the knot in the ribbon to the bottom of the last piece of chipboard).  Class details...

Oakland Make-n-takes part 2

As I mentioned in my post this past Saturday, there were a couple more make-n-takes that we did at the Oakland regional.  I finished putting my scrapbook pages together and have those to show you.



Here's a 6x6 scrapbook page that uses the "Live Your Dream" stamp set from the Occasions mini catalog.  It's such a quick, simple layout and this page went together really quickly. 

I know I should have pictures on my scrapbook pages, but I'm one of those protective moms who can't stand the idea of her children's pictures on the internet.  I just can't do it! 



Here's the 12x12 page we made.  Again, another simple layout.  There are a few things about the page that I want to show you.



We embossed the little dots around the Wild Wasabi square using a crop-a-dial. 



We also embossed the little photo corner.  I think it's so cute.  Here's how we lined it all up.



With the paper piercing template!  We used the medium sized holes in the section that says "for small eyelet placement."  Simply set your crop-a-dial to the A1 setting and emboss through the holes like this....



Just be sure not to squeeze too hard (yes I'm speaking from experience) or you'll make holes in your cardstock.  I know that's not a very good photo, but I took that picture myself.  It's the best I could do with one hand holding the camera. 

For the photo corner, I embossed the 5 dots and then turned my photo corner punch upside down, lined it up and then punched it out.

There is one more card that we made, but I'll have to post that later.  It needs a tutorial on how to fold it to get the pocket inside.  So I'll work on that and post it at a later date.

Leadership Make-n-Take Directions

I posted my leadership make-n-takes last week (click here to see the post), but I have a couple of things to add as well as directions for one of the cards.  First is my scrapbook page.  I thought it looked a little bare without a photo on it and the star just floating on the page.  Here it is again with a photo.

That looks much better!  I also mentioned that it was glued onto chipboard.  What I didn't realize at the time is that it's our new On Board Book Basics chipboard.  Let me tell you...this stuff is THICK (almost an 1/8" thick) and sturdy!!  I will definitely be ordering some of this on my next order.

Here's the card that needs directions.

The base of this card is made from a piece of our new East Coast Prep Designer Series Paper.  Take a piece of the 12" x 12" Wild Wasabi polka dot DSP and cut off a 1" strip.  Cut the strip down to 1" x 10" and set it aside (this is the belly band for the card).  Next you need this piece from our On Board Ginormous Pieces.

Punch out the largest circle from the chipboard and use that to trace a circle on your DSP.  Then cut out the circle. 

Edited to Add:  For those of you who don't have this chipboard, the circle is 8 1/2" across.

I'm using some yellow paper for this tutorial...just pretend like it's the gorgeous DSP from Stampin' Up!

Next you need to score your circle at 3 1/2".  To do this, I took a pencil and marked a heavy line along my 3 1/2" mark on the grid paper from the bottom of the paper to the top.  That way I could see the heavy line at the top after I placed my circle on the grid paper.   Lay your circle on your grid paper making sure to line up the left and bottom sides of the circle with the edges of the grid paper.

Lay your ruler down and line it up with your penciled line on the 3 1/2" mark and score it with your bone folder.  Fold your paper along the score line and rotate it like this...

lining up the folded edge with the bottom of your grid paper.  Now you need to score two more lines just like you did before.  One at 2 1/8" and another at 6 3/8".  Fold it on the new score lines.

Now cut out the two smaller pieces of the circle following the score lines.  When you're done it will look like this.

Fold the bottom flap in first and then the two side flaps.  That's it for the card base.  You don't need any adhesive to hold it together--that's what the belly band is for.

Grab your 1" x 10" strip that you previously cut.  Score it at 1 3/4" and 6".  Fold on the score lines and adhere the ends together making sure the longer side is on top.  Slide the belly band onto your DSP.

The card insert is a 4 1/8" x 4 1/4" piece of More Mustard cardstock.  Punch a hole in the top with your crop-a-dial and set a large eyelet in the hole.  Tie a ribbon through it and that piece is done.

We decorated the belly band with some rub-ons and the Sweet Celebrations stamp set.  Here's a picture of all three pieces of the card together.

This was my favorite card that we made at leadership.  Have fun making one!

More new stuff!

I went through my photos last night and I found more new stuff to show you!  I truly wasn't trying to leave stuff out.  I completely forgot I took these pictures.  I took over 1000 pictures, so some of these got lost in the shuffle. 

Here are the new "A Perfect Day" Rub-Ons from the new Occasions mini.  These were made to go with the new Die-cut Blooms I showed you in yesterday's post.

Here's a good look at the new Carousel Notes.  Again, these come in Groovy Guava, Soft Sky, and Wild Wasabi.  And yes, that's a sneak peek at a new stamp set called "Live Your Dream."  I love the way they added Rub-Ons to the center of the flowers as an accent. 

The Chocolate Chip envelopes are 6 1/4" square, so I imagine the Carousel Notes are about 6" in diameter.   Don't the white Rub-Ons look striking on the envelope?  They're so pretty!

Here they used the Carousel Note as a layer on a scrapbook page.  **Oops, I forgot to mention that this is the new 1/4" Poly-Twill Ribbon.  It comes in Chocolate Chip and Old Olive.  15 yards for $5.95.  I can't wait to get some!!!***

Before I show you more Carousel Notes, I should probably show you the new Afternoon Tea DSP.  Here's side one.

And here's side two.  You'll see this paper on a few more of the samples I'm going to post.  And yes, that's another new set of Rub-Ons in that photo.  Here's a better look.

These are called "Love Bird" Rub-Ons.  They're designed to coordinate with the Carousel Notes.

Here they turned one of the envelopes into a Bag-a-lope (for directions click here).  The envelopes are large enough that they make a decent size bag.

I love the way the Rub-Ons look on this one.  Also, you'll notice that the flower stamp from the "Live Your Dream" set is stamped directly onto the DSP.  The images are a perfect match.

Here they made the envelope into a pouch and filled it with candy.  That's one of the red Die-cut Blooms.

These two Carousel Notes were connected together with a brad that is hidden behind the ribbon.  You rotate the top one around to see what's on the bottom layer.  It's such a cute idea.

I think this one is my favorite.  It shows what the Rub-Ons look like on vellum.  It also shows that the Carousel Notes were designed to coordinate with the "Pick a Petal" Classy Brass Template (on page 187 of the new catalog).  They used the brass template to dry emboss the circles in each of the scallops.  They also used the holes on the template to paper pierce the circle around the vellum.  It's so pretty.

Leadership Make-n-Takes

Well, I didn't think I'd get to post again until after leadership, but it turns out that my roommate (Blythe Klipple) has a laptop computer.  She's letting me use it to post some pictures.  Thanks Blythe!!

Here are the make-n-takes we made today.

Isn't this cute?  I know a lot of you are going to be asking for directions on how to make this...but you'll have to wait until next week.  I'm using Blythe's Mac for this post and as a PC user, I feel like a fish out of water.

This is a cute tri-fold card.  On the front flap we measured up 1 1/2" from the bottom right corner.  Then we took our paper trimmer and cut from our 1 1/2" mark to the upper left hand corner.  So the front flap is angled.  It's a little difficult to see in the photo, but it's there.

I also have to add that I LOVE our new striped grosgrain ribbon.  It's much wider than I thought it would be--it's 1/2" wide.  It also lays very nicely on the card.  In this card, the striped grosgrain is holding the front flap closed.

This is a 9 3/8" square scrapbook page.  We glued our DSP down to a piece of chipboard that big.  It's nice and sturdy.  As you can see in these photos, we got to use lots of Rub-Ons.  This was my first chance to work with them and they're so easy to use.  And yes, you'll be addicted to them too!

This picture has a little shadow on it, but it's hard to take a good photo in a hotel room with your bed sheets as the back drop!  We made two of this card--one to keep and one for the Ronald McDonald House.
