As soon as I saw the Lotus Blossom stamp set in the Sale-a-bration catalog, I knew I had to have it. The flower is beautiful and I love how the flower is broken down into more detailed sections to give it dimension. Plus, it was FREE (with a $50 purchase). I couldn't pass it up.
I decided that today was the day to try out my new set so I looked for a great layout to work with. I can always count on Mojo Monday sketches to get my creative juices going.
When I stamped the flower, I started with the lightest color first--Wisteria Wonder. I inked up the largest image (without any detail) in Wisteria Wonder ink, stamped it off on scrap paper, and then stamped it on the Whisper White card stock. Next I took the larger of the two detailed stamps, inked it up in Elegant Eggplant ink, stamped it off on scrap paper, and then stamped it on top of the first image. Last I took the smaller of the two detailed stamps, inked it up in Elegant Eggplant ink, and stamped it full strength on top of the other two images.
If you look at the picture of this stamp set you'll see that the stem for the flower is straight, but my stamped stem is curved. That's one of the great things about working with Photopolymer stamps. I was able to curve this stamp as I mounted it on my acrylic block. After I was done with all of the stamping, I sponged around the edges of the Whisper White card stock with Elegant Eggplant ink.
The sentiment is stamped in Elegant Eggplant ink on Wisteria Wonder card stock. I cut it out using the Chalk Talk Framelits, added two Rhinestones, and then attached it to the card using Dimensionals.
The DSP that I used is the Irresistibly Yours DSP that you can find in the Sale-a-bration catalog. In other words, it was also FREE! The DSP is Whisper White with glossy white patterns on it. I wanted the glossy image to stand out, so I sponged Elegant Eggplant ink all over it. The glossy white leaves resisted the ink and now they stand out rather than blending in to the background. This paper is one my favorite items from the catalog. It's gorgeous!
Another paper that I think is gorgeous is the Silver Glimmer Paper. I purchased it a while ago and I've been hoarding it ever since. I think it's past time that I opened the package and used it. I took a small piece of the Silver Glimmer Paper and punched it using the Scallop Edge Border Punch. I attached it to the card at the top of the Irresistibly Yours DSP to cover the top edge.
For the inside of my card I added another piece of the Irresistibly Yours DSP that was sponged in Elegant Eggplant ink. The piece of Silver Glimmer Paper was a scrap that I had on my table. When you take a piece of paper and punch it with the Scallop Edge Border Punch, it leaves a strip of paper about 1/4" wide as scrap. This was the piece that was left over after punching the scalloped piece for the front of the card. It was too pretty to throw away and it helped tie in the look from the front of the card.
If you'd like to purchase any of the materials I used to make this card, I've added a chart at the bottom with pictures of the items. Simply click on the item and it will add it to the shopping cart. It's very quick and simple. Thanks for stopping by!
