Every December I hold a shoebox swap for my downline. We each bring a project and we rotate around the table making each others' projects. It's my favorite meeting of the year.
Mary (rdm on Splitcoast) taught us all how to make snow globes.
For a complete tutorial on how to make the snow globes, click here. I'll just highlight a few parts of the project.
The snowmen were stamped in black stazon on a piece of acetate. When the stazon was dry, I turned the acetate over and colored the back of the snowmen with a versamarker. I dipped the acetate in white embossing powder and then heated it.
Then I flipped the snowmen back over and colored with sharpies on the front of the acetate. I copied Mary's sample project and took a sharpie in the lightest shade of blue and colored around the edges of the snowmen. I think it gives the snowmen more depth. Last, I stamped some snowflakes around the snowmen using white stazon.
The base of the snow globe is a small fruit can--the kind with a pop top. Mary pre-stamped the white card stock that we wrapped around the can. She took the Bold Snowflakes Wheel and wheeled it on white card stock using several different shades of blue ink. The edges of the card stock were sponged in Brilliant Blue ink.
I love the finished project. Thanks Mary!
This week I will be posting a few more of the projects that we made at the meeting, so stay tuned for more fun ideas. You've already seen the project I provided (the cone ornament) so it will be fun showing off how talented the other ladies are in my group!
