I've been busy working on another Valentine's Day project. It's a scalloped heart treat container.
I filled it with a bag of Valentine's Day colored M&M's.
Here's a look from a slightly different angle. This would make a great gift not only for Valentine's Day, but also for any other time of year you'd like to let someone know you're thinking of them.

Today I'm back to show you another one of my Valentine's Day creations. Besides treats, my kids also like giving pencils to their classmates. Rather than make cards and tape the pencils to them, I thought I'd make the pencil into a Valentine.
Here's a look at the front of the pencil topper. The scalloped heart is from the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit die. I stamped the heart image and then punched it out using the Full Heart Punch.
The other side of the pencil topper (it has a heart on both sides) has a place for them to write who the Valentine goes to.
I know you're going to ask, so I already made a tutorial for these pencil toppers. They are very easy to make.
Step 1: Cut a piece of cardstock 3/4" x 3". Score it at 3/4", 1 1/4", 2", and 2 1/2".
It's difficult to see the score lines in the photo above, so I traced over them in pencil for the photo below.
Step 2: Punch the small flower image (from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack) out of the second scored section. Add a piece of sticky strip to the last section.
Note: This flower punch was the best fit for the size of a pencil. A 1/4" circle punch is too small and the 3/8" circle punch is too big and the pencil topper falls off. The flower punch holds it snugly.
Step 3: Fold on the score lines and adhere it together using the Sticky Strip.
Step 4: Making sure that the punched out flower is at the bottom, adhere the hearts to the front and back of the pencil topper.
Step 5: Insert the pencil and it's done!

I hope all of you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The holidays were really relaxing for me and I enjoyed the time my kids had off from school. It was nice not waking up to an alarm clock for a couple of weeks. They are now all back in school and I'm hoping I'll be able to return to my normal schedule. While I'm grateful for the time to myself during the day, that alarm clock sure does ring early!
I missed the opportunity to stamp many Christmas projects, so I thought I'd get an early start on Valentine's Day. I want to come up with something fun to stamp for all of the Valentine's that my kids have to take to school.
I used the Petal Cone Big Shot Die and folded it in half to make this treat pouch. I stamped the Blushing Bride cardstock with Blushing Bride ink using one of the flower images from the Mixed Bunch stamp set. The sentiment came from the Outlined Occasions stamp set that you can earn for FREE during Sale-a-bration (starting January 24th). I stamped it in Riding Hood Red ink and colored in the letters with Blushing Bride ink. It's difficult to see in the photo, but I finished off the scallops by poking holes in them with my paper piercing tool.
I designed this project with a sucker in mind. For some reason my kids don't feel like their Valentine's are complete without including a treat of some kind or at least a pencil. They're too funny.
I'm not sure if I will be making these for my kids, but this is prototype number one. I'll be making a few more and then letting them vote on which ones they want to make for their classes. I have a lot to make so it feels good to get a head start on this project. Thanks for stopping by!

I was looking through my September 2011 Stampin' Success magazine (for Stampin' Up! demonstrators) and there was an article on paper quilling. One of the projects caught my eye and I had to give it a try.
The original card was standard size, but I decided to make mine into a little 3x3 card. I love how the swirls fit perfectly on the heart punch.
If you're looking for some directions and tips on how paper quill, click here to see a tutorial I wrote a few weeks ago. The paper that I used on the heart was 1/8" x 11". I folded the paper in half and then curled each end separately using the rounded end of my paper stylus.
I used Tombow Mono Multipurpose adhesive to hold the quilled piece in place. I made a small puddle of glue on a paper plate and then dipped the cardstock into it. I glued the "v" part of the heart in place first and then worked my way up towards the swirls at the top. I held the pieces in place with my fingers until the glue dried. It only took a few seconds.

Today I have another fun goody from convention to show you. This fall Stampin' Up! will be releasing a set of stamps for your COOKIES! It will come with three different designs and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will be coming out with more exclusive designs in the future. They did NOT say that they would have other designs in the future, I'm just hoping.
If you click on the image, you can see a larger version to get a better look at the images. These cookies are about 3" across. During lunch one day at convention, they gave us all a cookie to eat that was stamped just like these. They were delicious. The best part is that the cookie stamps will come with cookies recipes that work well with the stamps.
Here's a sleeve of the cookies packaged in a cello bag with a darling tag attached.
Here's a box (which we will be selling in the Holiday Mini Catalog) that is the perfect size for holding four cookies. I can't wait to get my hands on these cookie stamps and these boxes. This will make giving gifts this holiday season so easy and my kids will love helping me make them. The cookie stamps will be available for purchase on October 1st.

I'm back to show you a very quick card that I made using the same Mojo Monday sketch.
The previous two cards that I made were 5 1/4" square. This time I made a simple 3x3 card. Ever since I made the Valentine's heart container for my daughter, she has been reminding me that I forgot to make her a Valentine's Day card. So I made this card for her and she is thrilled. She especially likes the glimmer paper. She keeps touching the heart and then looking at her finger to see if any of the glitter came off. I love this paper because the glitter doesn't rub off.
As you can tell, I changed my card a little bit from the sketch. I tried to put a few different accents where the small flowers are, but they didn't work so I left them off completely. I also changed the large circle shape into a heart. I think that people often see a sketch and think that their card has to look *exactly* like the sketch. So long as the basic layout is there, it works.

I was recently cleaning and found a heart shaped notepad that I bought forever ago. My youngest daughter confiscated the notepad and decided that she needed to color every heart in the entire notepad. She has torn the individual pages apart and has taped hearts to all of my cupboards, doors, and cabinets. She said (and I quote), "Jesus told me to color these and decorate for Valentine's Day."
She has officially declared today Valentine's Day and is ready to celebrate. She even wants me to go and pick up her older siblings from school *right now* so that they can come home and celebrate with her. She said, "On Valentine's Day Santa Claus told me that you need to go to school and pick up the kids." How do you respond to that?
Needless to say, I don't have the heart to burst her bubble and tell her that she needs to wait nine more months for the real Valentine's Day. So I went through my stash and decided to make her a Valentine's Day surprise.
I bought these tins a couple of years ago at one of the local craft stores. I added a small piece of Designer Series Paper to the sides and a ribbon around the edge of the lid.
I tied the ribbon in a simple bow at the top.
I finished off the tin with some rub-ons on the window. Because it's May and stores no longer have any Valentine's Day candy, I had to go with the next best thing...red and pink jelly beans leftover from Easter. She didn't seem to mind at all.
I need to run and go entertain my daughter. She just put her shoes on and is literally standing at the front door as I type this demanding to go pick up the kids from school. She doesn't believe me that they still have two more hours of school. It's going to be a long two hours! Thanks for stopping by!

I want to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day/Happy Singles Awareness Day. In honor of today I have one last Valentine's Day project to show you.
I finally ordered some stuff from the new Occasions Mini Catalog and this Petal Cone Big Shot die was the first item on my order. I love being able to quickly make 3D projects that I can give as gifts.
I wheeled the Pretty in Pink cardstock with the Very Vintage wheel using Pretty in Pink ink. I don't use wheels very often, but when I do pull one out it's usually this one. The design is beautiful and it can be used for a variety of occasions.
I also ordered the red Glimmer Paper from the mini catalog. It's so pretty and none of the glitter comes off. I love it! I punched out two large hearts and attached them using dimensionals to the front and back petals.
I added the scalloped design (the Real Red cardstock) to all four of the petals and then realized that I couldn't glue them down because the scallops got in the way. I wanted the petals with the hearts on them to be the main focus, so I solved my problem by cutting off the top two scallops on the petals that didn't have the hearts.
I punched holes on the inside of the box, threaded some ribbon through it, and knotted the ends. I used dimensionals to adhere the petals down to cover the knots.
Of course I had to finish off my project with some chocolate. Valentine's Day and chocolate go hand-in-hand. You can't separate the two.

A few weeks ago when I participated in the last Control Freak blog hop, I took the tour myself and saw this darling Valentine's Day Dresser by LeeAnn Greff.
Isn't that adorable? I just had to make one. You can click here to see LeeAnn's tutorial. I had a scrap of shiny silver cardstock that I cut out using the Top Note Big Shot die and made it into the mirror. I had to be careful taking the photo of this project because the flash would shine off the "mirror" and cause glare in the photo.
I stamped the sentiment in Real Red ink on Pretty in Pink cardstock and then punched it out using the large heart punch. I adhered it to the back side (the non-bumpy side) of the scalloped heart that I cut out using the Heart of Hearts Embosslit die. I attached the heart to the mirror using a dimensional.
All of the drawers are made from the Matchbox Big Shot die. I used Sticky Strip to adhere all six of them together. I punched out a small Pretty in Pink heart and attached that to the front of the drawers. The drawer handles are silver button brads that I had in my stash.
I used Glue Dots to adhere some flat marbles on the bottom of the dresser for feet. It helped add some weight to the dresser to make it sturdier.
I finished off the dresser with some designer series paper, ribbon, and of course some chocolate. All of the drawers hold three mini Reeses Peanut Butter cups. This project was so fun to put together.

I was blog surfing the other day and came across the cutest purses made out of clear card boxes. I have a stash of these clear boxes so I decided to make one.
I can't find the original blog post, so I'm not sure who to give credit to for the idea. I bought my clear boxes at Clear Bags. The ones I have measure 5 7/8" x 4 1/2" x 1". The great thing about these purses is that you can make two of them out of one box.
The boxes lay flat and measure 8 7/8" long (including the length of the flaps) when they are not put together. With the 8 7/8" side going across the top, cut the box in half at 4 7/16". That's half way between the 4 3/8" and 4 1/2" marks.
For the bottom of the box you'll need a 4 1/2" x 1" piece of cardstock. Start to assemble the box by tucking in the two small flaps on the bottom of the box. Hold the cardstock in place (as shown in the photo below) and close the bottom flap of the box. I did NOT use any adhesive on this piece of cardstock. The two little flaps hold it in place perfectly. You *might* need to shave just a tiny bit off the cardstock to get it to fit just right.
Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper that is 11" x 2 15/16". For those of you who struggle with 16th's of an inch, here's a picture for you.
It's right between the 2 7/8" and 3" marks. Score the DSP at 4 3/8", 5 1/4", 9 5/8", and 10 1/2". Fold the DSP on all of the score lines. Add a piece of sticky strip on the 1/2" strip and adhere it together to form a rectangle. Slide the DSP down inside the clear box.
For the purse handles you'll need about 30" of ribbon and some Sticky Strip.
Start by adhering your ribbon to the bottom of the box. Adhere the ribbon up the front of the box...
and loop it over to form the first handle. Adhere the ribbon down the front and around the bottom of the box. Flip it over and repeat the process on the other side of the box. Make sure that both of your ribbon handles are the same length. Wrap the ribbon around the bottom of the box and end it right back where you started.
Embellish the front of the box as desired. You can put the embellishments on the outside of the clear box or you can adhere them to the DSP inside the purse. If you're going to adhere them inside the purse, they can't be very bulky or the DSP won't sit right.
You can also switch out the DSP in the box for different seasons or occasions. You can fill the little purses with candy or small gifts. I think they'd also make great goody bags for birthday parties. The possibilities are endless.
