Today I wanted to show you another project from convention. Carrie Cudney did an entire presentation on different ways to make flowers. One of the projects she shared with us is this bookmark.
I think it's adorable. My girls are already calling dibs on who gets to keep it. I guess I can make another one so they won't fight!
Here's how to make the flower.
Step 1: Punch out five scalloped circles with the 1 1/4" Scalloped Circle Punch. Stack them on top of each other and pierce a hole through the center.
Note: You can use any size scalloped circle punch or circle punch for a larger/smaller flower.
Step 2: Insert a brad through the hole to keep the layers together. Spritz the scalloped circles with water. Don't be afraid to get a bit of water on it. It will dry.
Step 3: Take the top scalloped circle and scrunch it together as shown in the photo below.
Step 4: Repeat the process with the second scalloped circle. If it is dry, spritz it with more water.
Step 5: Continue the process scrunching each layer one at a time until all five layers are done. Be sure to spritz more water if needed.
Step 6: Set the flower aside to dry. For the stem of the flower, I just cut a scrap of Old Olive cardstock about 1/8" wide.
Also, in case you were wondering, the bookmark came from the Apothecary Accents Framelits. I simply cut the rectangle shape out and then cut off the half circle at the bottom.
To finish it, I punched a 1/8" circle out of the top. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks for stopping by!
